I walked along the greenbelt bike path along the Boise River from my hotel to downtown today, toured the capitol building, browsed a used book store, buying "Desert Queen: the Extraordinary life of Gertrude Bell: Adventurer, Adviser to Kings, ally of Lawrence of Arabia" by Janet Wallach, "Adventure without End" by Richard Bangs, and "The Future Eaters: an Ecological History of the Australasian Lands and People" by Tim Flannery, after which I enjoyed a fabulous Indian buffet in the Idanha Hotel.
